Super Dream Card Poker video poker gives gamblers a chance for special features if they double their normal wager. First, you’ll end up getting the best possible option of three different starting deals. In addition, you’ll occasionally draw a Dream Card that can be turned into any other card in the deck.
Video poker can be tailored to whatever type of game you choose to play. By that, we mean there is such variety among possible video poker options that you never have to play a game that doesn’t suit you. No matter your level of expertise or the kind of payback you seek, there’s a version of video poker that’s just your type.
For the more adventurous players out there, Super Dream Card Poker video poker represents a hybrid game with many special features attached. Like many games of its kind, these features don’t come for free. You have to bet twice as much as you normally would to play this game.
But once you do make that commitment, you get much more than just your normal video poker action. First of all, the game comes with the option of playing three, five, or 10 hands at once. With that in mind, you’ll be able to spice up the pace of play.
In addition, the extra wager gives you the chance for the best possible starting hand. Your deal with each hand will actually be the best possible one out of three five-card combinations that the game deals out. You won’t be seeing all three combinations. The better starting deal really helps when you’re using multiple hands.
Finally, you’ll get the chance to receive a Dream Card on the deal. When you get the Dream Card, you get to turn it into whatever card you think might help your hand the best. It allows you to go into the draw with a much better group of cards than you’d normally have.
If a Dream Card sounds like a wild card you might receive in a game like Deuces Wild or Joker Poker, you’re on the right track. But the Dream Card can’t be changed once you decide which card it’s going to be. By contrast, a wild card is never declared and is only officially changed after the draw to become whatever card helps your hand the most.
Obviously, the effect of the premium deal and the Dream Card gives you a much better chance at forming a winning combination by the end of the hand. In addition, some pay tables on Super Dream Card Poker video poker are boosted once the extra coins are bet. It really gives you some bang for your gambling buck when you make that extra wager.
But you also have to remember that the size of the wager makes Super Dream Card Poker video poker a particularly volatile game. You have to realize that your bankroll will be at much greater risk than usual. As such, it’s the type of game best suited for jackpot-seekers or those with a lot of money to bet.
In the following article, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about Super Dream Card Poker video poker. We’ll explain how to play basic video poker, how the multiple play option works, and what the special features bring to the table. Finally, we’ll explain how to play the game with the best possible strategy and what kind of payback you can expect.
Learning Basic Video Poker
There are many nuances to even a game as simple as single-hand Jacks or Better, which is the most basic and common form of video poker. Games like Super Dream Card Poker video poker and standard Dream Card Poker video poker branch out from that basic format. As a result, it’s a good idea for you to learn the basics before moving on to a more complex version like this one.
Even at that most basic level, video poker holds a lot of advantages over other casino games. In fact, it acts as a kind of combination of table games and slot machines.
- Video poker lets you play all by yourself, ensuring that you have complete privacy and can play at the pace you prefer.
- Video poker has more variety than most table games, which means you can always find a fresh way to play.
- Video poker can be learned in a matter of minutes, whether you’re a poker expert or a complete beginner.
- Video poker gives you a chance to employ strategy, meaning that you have some impact on gameplay.
- Video poker, thanks to the clear probabilities of making winning hands and the visible pay table, doesn’t hide anything from you about possible payback.
- Video poker makes for one of the more lucrative of all casino games, allowing you a solid return on your investment if you play well.
- Video poker is an excellent game to play online at top gambling websites, since it looks and plays the same online as it does in casinos.
With all that in mind, let’s walk you through a basic hand of video poker. Once you have that foundation, you’ll be able to move on to learn Super Dream Card Poker video poker.
Step 1: Your Bankroll
A bankroll is needed when you play video poker to make bets so that you can win money in return. Your bankroll will be formed when you put money into a video poker machine. However, if you’re playing online, you’ll need to create an account and fund it at the site of your choice.
Your bankroll will be translated into units known as credits or coins when you see them on a video poker screen. This means that each unit is equal to whatever denomination you’re playing at the time. For example, if you make a ten-coin bet on a 25-cent machine, it means that you’ve bet $2.50 (10 times .25).
Step 2: Your Bet
In the case of Super Dream Card Poker video poker, you can play one of two ways. If you wish to play the game normally without any of the special features, you’ll need to bet one through five coins per hand. And, if you want to play the game with the special features, you need to bet 10 coins per hand.
Notice that we used the phrase “per hand.” As we said earlier, Super Dream Card Poker video poker is a multiple play game. You’ll be playing either three, five, or 10 hands per round, and you must bet on each of those hands.
The ideal way to play the game, as in the way that will bring you the most potential payback, is to bet the maximum 10-coin amount for each hand that you play. Take a look at what that means for multiple hands:
- 3 hands = 30 coins
- 5 hands = 50 coins
- 10 hands = 100 coins
Even at small denominations, those are pretty pricey wagers. Yet you’ll find that betting one through five coins actually lowers your payback percentage. For that reason, you should consider playing a different game than Super Dream Card Poker video poker unless you have a solid bankroll to start.
Step 3: Your Hand
The special features of Super Dream Card Poker video poker will affect your strategy while playing the game. But the basic rhythm of play is the same as what you would expect from any other common video poker game.
It mimics the card game known as Five-Card Draw. In Five-Card Draw Poker, you get five cards on a deal, discard some of those cards and hold others, and then draw new cards for the discards.
In Five-Card Draw, you have to beat everyone at the table. That requires making the best possible poker hand out of everyone playing or bluffing your way to a win.
But video poker presents a much simpler way to win something back for the wager that you make. You simply have to come up with one of the winning combinations on the pay table you’re playing.
The specifics of winning hands can change sometimes depending on the pay table. But you’ll mostly be trying to make the following winning hands when playing Super Dream Card Poker video poker.
- Pair of jacks or better
- Two pair
- Three of a kind
- Straight (five cards of consecutive rank, like 3-4-5-6-7)
- Flush (five cards of same suit)
- Full house (three of a kind and two pair in the same hand)
- Four of a kind
- Straight flush (straight with five cards of same suit)
- Royal flush (ten, jack, queen, king, and ace of the same suit)
Hands at the top of the list are ones that will come up often during gameplay. That’s not the case for the hands at the bottom of the list, which will come up rarely. The rarer it is that you can expect to attain a winning combination, the more that combination will pay.
You’ll receive five cards on your video poker deal after you’ve made your wager and pressed the “deal” button. These will be the starting point for your final hand. But you have a draw round as well where you can improve those cards.
You have to decide which cards you plan to hold or discard out of your original deal. Cards that you hold will be part of your final five-card hand. And you’ll draw new cards from the deck to replace the cards that you’ve discarded.
The deal comes from a simulated deck of 52, just like a standard deck. Once you receive the five cards from the deal, they’re out of play for the draw. In other words, the draw deck will have 47 cards remaining.
You have to make choices based on your chances of attaining winning combinations on the pay table. But you also have to factor in the potential payout for the hands you’re trying to achieve. After all, you might occasionally want to reach for hands that are hard to attain if they offer a big enough payback.
Keep in mind that each deal and draw is completely random. Imagine a constantly shuffling deck within the machine’s software. That shuffling is only broken up when you hit the buttons to “deal” or “draw.”
As a result, there are no patterns to be found on a video poker machine or online game, nor is there any way to guess what’s going to happen based on what has happened previously. Make your decisions about what to hold or discard based on probability and payback, instead of hunches or guesses.
Once you do make your choices, press the buttons underneath the cards you want to hold. Then, hit the “draw” button to complete the hand. The draw will take place and your five-card hand will be finalized.
Now that you know how to play a basic hand of video poker, you’re ready to move on and tackle the special features found in Super Dream Card Poker video poker.
Playing the Special Features of Super Dream Card Poker Video Poker
The basic rhythm of single-hand play is still in place for Super Dream Card Poker video poker. But once you make the 10-coin wager, it opens up the extra features on the game and somewhat transforms gameplay.
The Deal
First of all, Super Dream Card Poker video poker takes place either three, five, or 10 hands at a time, depending on how much you wager. Each of these hands will come from a single deal, however. The decisions you make about this deal will determine what takes place in the subsequent draws.
Let’s assume, for example, that you’ve wagered 30 coins, allowing you to play three hands of Super Dream Card Poker video poker. Normally, once you make the wager, what would happen is that the deal would come from the first five cards out of the simulated deck. You would have to make decisions based on that deal.
But part of the bonus of Super Dream Card Poker video poker is that you actually get the ideal deal out of three possible deals. You don’t actually see this process taking place on screen. It all happens behind the scenes.
These three “hidden” deals all come from the same deck of 52. For example, the following three five-card deals might occur within the software of the Super Dream Card Poker video poker game:
Deal 1: Four of Spades, Nine of Hearts, Nine of Clubs, Six of Spades, Ace of Hearts
Deal 2: Two of Clubs, Three of Hearts, Four of Diamonds, Queen of Clubs, King of Hearts
Deal 3: Jack of Clubs, Jack of diamonds, Four of Spades, Five of Clubs, Nine of Spades
Out of these three deals, it’s pretty obvious that Deal 3 is ideal. You have a pair of jacks to start, which is already a winning combination on most of the pay tables available on Super Dream Card Poker video poker. This would be the deal you’d receive.
Again, you wouldn’t see the other deals. How does the machine know which deal to pick? It goes through the process of determining the average outcome of each deal based on all possible draws that could take place.
Even though you never see this process taking place, it is a huge advantage to you that it does. You’re basically getting a much better deal on average than you would on average if you were playing a normal video poker game. And as you’re about to see as we continue to look at how multiple-play action works, having a good deal is really important in this style of game.
Making Your Decision
Let’s continue with that example with the deal that you received.
Even though it is your only deal, it is about to be the basis for three separate hands. First, you have to decide about what to hold and discard, as you would in any other hand of video poker.
In this case, your decision is pretty easy, because it’s clear that holding on to the pair of jacks is the best way to proceed. On most pay tables, it ensures you of getting your bet back at least to have the high pair. And, with three cards on the draw, you could possibly improve the hand to two pair, three of a kind, a full house, or even four of a kind.
You will press the hold buttons for the pair of jacks. That will lock the jacks into those positions for all three of the hands that you’re playing.
Once you do that and hit the “draw” button, three separate draws will take place. These draws will come from three different decks, all containing the same 47 cards (the original 52 minus the five from your deal). Each of these decks are being shuffled constantly, meaning that the outcome of each of the three draws will be random and separate from the others.
For example, you might end up with the following three draws on your hands.
Hand 1
Hand 2
Hand 3
You can see that you were able to improve to three of a kind in hand 1 and a full house in hand 3. Hand 2 didn’t improve, but you still would get paid based on the pair of jacks.
You would consult the pay table you’re playing to see how much each of these hands pays. All of that will be added together for your total winnings for that round of Super Dream Card Poker video poker.
Note that you drew the jack of hearts in both hand 1 and hand 3. That shows how it is possible to end up with the same card on different draws in Super Dream Card Poker video poker.
As you can see, a good deal provides you with the chance for amplified winnings in multiple play. It would be amplified even greater playing five or 10 cards at once, where the process would be the same only with more draws per round.
The flipside is that a bad deal will hurt a little bit more than it would than if you were playing a single hand. But, as we said, the Super Dream Card Poker video poker helps to battle against that since you’re receiving an optimal deal.
The Dream Card Factor
On top of the optimal deal feature, the max bet in Super Dream Card Poker video poker also gives you the possibility of getting a “Dream Card” on the deal. This card vastly improves your chances of winning the hand. You get to change it into whatever card you think will help your hand the most.
In Super Dream Card Poker video poker, your chances of being dealt the Dream Card depend on which pay table you’re playing. But overall, you’re looking at about a 15% chance of the Dream Card being part of any of the three hidden deals per round.
Remember that you’ll be getting the best of those hidden deals. And it’s likely that the Dream Card will be in the best of the three hands, although it’s not a sure thing. In any case, expect to see the Dream Card show up in maybe 30% of the deals that actually appear on your screen when playing Super Dream Card Poker video poker.
Once you see the Dream Card, you’ll have an extra decision to make with your hand, because you have to declare what you want the Dream Card to be. And you still have to decide which cards you want to hold and discard.
Let’s look at an example. Imagine that you received the following deal:
You have to visualize the different ways that the Dream Card can transform this hand. And this deal provides you with some interesting possibilities.
You have a pair of high cards in this deal. If you changed the Dream Card into a jack or queen, you would be ensuring yourself of a winning hand with the high pair. And you could easily improve that on the draw to something better.
Also, notice that you have three hearts in the deal. By changing the Dream Card into another heart, you’d give yourself a chance at a flush if you dropped only the jack.
If you went in this direction, it would be smart to change the Dream Card into the ace or king of hearts, since you could conceivably draw another ace or king and get a winning hand even if you didn’t draw a heart. Notice that we didn’t mention turning the Dream Card into the jack of hearts. That’s because you discarded a jack in this scenario, so your chances of drawing another jack would be less than a king or ace.
Finally, you could turn the Dream Card into the three or six of hearts. That would open up the chance of a straight flush, one of the highest-paying hands in the game. And you could also get lucky on your two-card draw and end up with several other winning combinations.
The key here is that you have to declare which card the Dream Card is going to be before the draw. This makes it a little less valuable than a wild card, which you don’t have to declare.
A wild card, like a two in Deuces Wild or a joker in Joker Poker, only truly transforms until the draw takes place. At that point, it automatically becomes whatever card helps the hand the most. In that respect, it’s a bit more versatile than the Dream Card.
Also, you cannot get a Dream Card on the draw. It will only show up in a deal for Super Dream Card Poker video poker.
Still, it is a very valuable weapon in Super Dream Card Poker video poker. And, again, because of the multiple play format, it will be used for multiple hands at once when it does show up. When you put the Dream Card together with the optimal hand feature, you can see why the Super Dream Card Poker video poker special features are worth the while. It’s just a matter of being able to afford the size of the bet every hand to take advantage of them.
Pay Tables for Super Dream Card Poker Video Poker
You’ll have the chance to choose between several different pay tables when you play Super Dream Card Poker video poker. In this way, you can tailor the game to the style of play that you prefer.
Choosing the pay table allows you to control the volatility of Super Dream Card Poker video poker. As it is constructed, the game is pretty volatile. By that, we mean you can expect frequent, significant shifts in your bankroll.
This is mainly because you’ll be betting 10 coins but getting paid based on a five-coin wager. On the deals when the special features go your way, you’re likely to see a surge in payback. But when you end up with losing rounds, your bankroll will sink that much faster.
In addition, the more hands that you choose to play per round in Super Dream Card Poker video poker, the higher the volatility will be. A good deal will be much more valuable when you’re playing ten hands instead of three. And a bad deal will hurt much more as well.
Choosing the pay table will help you either balance out or lean into the volatility. Jacks or Better is the ultimate low volatility pay table. It balances out payback the most from common to rare hands, giving you the chance to sustain a smaller bankroll a little bit better than other pay tables.
But as you move deeper into the Bonus Poker pay tables, the volatility will rise. These games pay more and more for four of a kind hands at the expense of common hands.
You can also play one of the wild card pay tables. These tables put both the Dream Card and wild cards into play at the same time. It increases your chances of attaining rare hands, but the volatility also rises significantly.
As far as overall payback, there isn’t much difference from pay table to pay table in Super Dream Card Poker video poker. The best pay tables in each family come in at over 98%.
This is just a shade below the recommended payback of 99% that we suggest for video poker games. With over 99% average payback, you can hope to make a profit playing the game by earning loyalty rewards from casinos or online gambling sites.
Still, the potential for extreme winnings in a short span playing Super Dream Card Poker video poker might outweigh the fact that you’ll have a harder time overcoming the built-in house edge. It depends what you’re looking for from the game.
Here is a sampling of the best pay tables available on a Super Dream Card Poker video poker machine. Always look for these pay tables, because lesser payback on certain hands will lower your payback percentage. Take a look below.
